The Chrome Extension works by redirecting all Chrome traffic through a https proxy server.
The Google Chrome extension is the preferred client for the Private Internet Access HTTPS proxy service. All Private Internet Access regions available through the proxy service will use TLSv1.2 to encrypt communication between your browser and Private Internet Access.
The Chrome extension does not affect applications other than Google Chrome. It can be used with or without the Private Internet Access desktop application. It supports making HTTP, HTTPS, and secure web socket requests through the proxy service. Plaintext websockets are not supported.
In addition to being a client for the Private Internet Access proxy service, the extension also implements features that help protect your privacy and security while using Google Chrome and Private Internet Access.
