Installing the PIA App on Linux

For Debian-based Linux (including Ubuntu), we recommend that you try running our Linux client software. To download our Linux client please use the following download link:

https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/installer/download_installer_linux

Once the download is completed, please use the following steps to install the application.

From the terminal in the directory you downloaded to:

1) Extract file:

tar -xzf pia-v69-installer-linux.tar.gz

2) Tell OS to proceed:

chmod +x pia-v69-installer-linux.sh

3) Run installer:

./pia-v69-installer-linux.sh

Once the software is successfully installed, you should see a client icon in your system tray near the clock. The icon will appear to be a small, red robot icon if disconnected. and bright green if connected.
