With the transition to OpenVPN 2.5, we are forced to remove the KillSwitch feature from the latest Android PIA application, 3.11.0. Because of changes made in OpenVPN, the KillSwitch feature within the application is no longer reliable and may cause issues with your connection. This being said, the only reliable way to ensure non-VPN connections are blocked, is to use Android 8.0 or later and use the ‘Block connections without VPN’ option that can be found within your device's settings using the following path:
Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced/VPN > OpenVPN for Android > Enable Always ON VPN, Enable Block Connections without VPN
To ensure our users privacy, we recommend using this native method to restrict connections and control what data you would like to have public. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter, please feel free to reach out to our CS Team via Support ticket or through our 24/7 live chat service!
