Step 1: Locate and Open Application
Locate the PIA app tray icon in the system tray area:
*Mac OS X/MacOS: The icon will be located on the Menu Bar at the top of the screen
Once you have located the application, select the icon and open the application dashboard.
Step 2: Disconnect
If you are connected to or see the application attempting to connect to the VPN, select the power button (or right click the application icon) and disconnect from the VPN.
Step 3: Settings
Open the advanced settings window by right clicking the application icon in the system tray or select the (3) three Horizontal dots located at the top right-hand side of the dashboard.
Step 4: Protocols Tab
Within the Settings Menu locate and select the Protocols tab.
Step 5: Change Remote Ports - UDP
Once you are within the Protocols menu, the application will automatically be connected to UDP. First cycle through the list of ports available for UDP by selecting the dropdown arrow for Remote port.
Step 6: Change Connection- TCP
If you are still having connection issues or wish to try another connection type, go back into your application settings and select the dropdown arrow for Transport and select TCP.
Step 7: Change Remote Ports -TCP
Once you have switched to TCP, then proceed to cycle through the list of TCP ports by selecting the dropdown arrow for Remote port.
Step 8: Connect to the VPN
Once you have changed the ports and Connection type, go back to the applications main Menu and try connecting to the VPN again. Repeat Steps 5-7 as needed.
