This guide explains how to install and configure OpenVPN Connect on iOS and connect using configuration files.
Steps
- Open the App Store on your iOS device.
- Search for OpenVPN Connect and install the app.
- Close the App Store after installation.
- Open the OpenVPN configuration generator page:

Select the OpenVPN version, region, and port. - Tap Generate after selecting your settings.
- Open your browser downloads, then tap the downloaded file.
- Tap the share icon (⬆️) and select OpenVPN.
If OpenVPN does not appear, tap More and select it. - Tap Copy to OpenVPN, then open OpenVPN Connect and tap Add.
- Accept the Terms of Service in the OpenVPN Connect app. Tap Agree.
- Import the profile when it appears in the app and tap Add.
- Enter your Private Internet Access (PIA) username and password.
Select Save password if needed. - Tap Allow when prompted to enable the VPN connection.
- Enter your iOS passcode to confirm the VPN configuration.
- Select the server or region and tap Connect.
- Tap Yes to establish the connection.
- Confirm your connection status in the app.
