You can change DNS settings in the Private Internet Access (PIA) app through the Network settings menu.
Steps
- Open the PIA app and ensure you are disconnected from the VPN.
- Open Settings by selecting the three vertical dots (⋮).
- Go to the Network tab.
- Locate the Name Servers section.
- Open the dropdown menu and select your preferred DNS option:
- PIA DNS (default)
- Existing DNS settings
- Custom DNS settings
- Built-in Resolver
- Handshake DNS
- Return to the main screen after selecting your preferred option.
Important Note
Using existing, custom, or Handshake DNS settings may route DNS traffic outside of PIA and expose it to third parties.
