Windows 7 Support

Authors list

With privacy for our users being our number one concern, we’ve decided to provide a version of the VPN client for our users utilizing the discontinued Windows 7 platform. With support for Windows 7 being discontinued by Microsoft on January 14th of 2020, Microsoft has chosen to continue critical security updates on the Windows 7 platform for a maximum of 3 years after the initial date of the discontinued support. Although security patches will be released, the lack of support for the operating system poses immense vulnerabilities. Not only the lack of support, but with the focus shifting to only critical security updates, this will leave Windows 7 users at risk leaving us unable to support the use of the operating system.

We understand that some of our users are not currently in a position to move forward from the Windows 7 OS. Regardless of your reasoning, we’ve chosen to offer the ability to utilize PIA on the Windows 7 Operating System. Although we’re unable to provide support for the use of PIA on the operating system due to security risks, our users can download version 2.3.3 of the VPN client to successfully be protected by PIA. Using this version will allow you to connect to our Next Generation Network, use the Split Tunneling feature, as well as enable our ad blocking feature, MACE.

Although you have the ability to use our service through the OpenVPN client, we want to offer the option of using the PIA client with all its features. At any time, you can download version 2.3.3 of the VPN client from the Recent Versions link on our Download page.
