The release of Apple’s M1 chips marked an important step in the evolution of high-performance processors for laptops and other portable devices. These chips use Apple Silicon (ARM architecture), which can cause compatibility issues with applications originally built for Intel-based Macs.
Rosetta 2 was created to allow Intel-based Mac applications to run on Apple Silicon devices.
You can read more about Rosetta 2 here:
To manually install Rosetta 2 on your macOS device, open Terminal and follow these steps:
- Open Spotlight (magnifying glass icon in the top-right corner of the screen).
- Type Terminal and press Enter.
-
Run the following command:
softwareupdate --install-rosetta
If you experience issues during installation, you can use alternative methods such as Manual Connection Scripts or the OpenVPN Connect application for macOS.
