You can generate OpenVPN files directly from the Client Control Panel. When signed in, navigate to the Downloads tab and scroll to the bottom of the page.
At the bottom of the Downloads page, you find two sections: OpenVPN Configuration Generator and OpenVPN Configurations. When you select OpenVPN Configurations, a new section opens that offers all server locations and encryption levels based on your preference. Available encryption levels include:
Default
Block-outside-dns
Strong
IP
TCP
TCP strong
Any option that does not state TCP uses UDP. To learn more about these different configurations, review the article: Where can I find your OVPN files?
When you select the Go to OpenVPN Generator link, a new page opens to begin the configuration process. Rather than downloading all available servers at once, the generator allows you to select a specific location and encryption level. You are not limited to the number of configurations you can generate.
Follow these steps to generate your file:
Select the OpenVPN version: Choose between version 2.4 or newer and 2.3 or older.
Select your platform: Options include Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android.
Select the region: Choose your desired server location.
4. Choose port and encryption: Select the port and level of encryption.
5. Use IP (Optional): Select the Use IP option at the bottom left if you need to enter an IP address into your configuration rather than a server name.
Once you select all options, click Generate to download the file. You can open the file in your browser to view the contents or find it in your computer's downloads folder.
Once opened, you see a list of all downloaded servers. You can then add these configuration files to your desired application.
If you selected Use IP, the server name is replaced with an IP address from that server.
Note: Private Internet Access (PIA) does not guarantee that these configuration files work for your desired application. PIA is unable to assist in troubleshooting if you encounter issues.
