Per App Settings lets you choose which apps use the Private Internet Access (PIA) VPN and which ones bypass it. Apps you exclude will use your regular internet connection instead.
Why Use Per App Settings?
This feature is for apps that don’t work properly over a VPN. Normally, you’d have to turn your VPN off, use the app, then turn it back on. With Per App Settings, you can let that app skip the VPN from the start while the rest of your phone stays routed through PIA VPN at the same time.
How to Use PIA VPN’s per App Settings
Follow these steps to choose VPN settings for specific apps.
- From the main dashboard, tap the menu button (☰) in the top-left corner.
- Tap Per App Settings. You’ll see a list of apps on your phone. By default, each app uses the VPN tunnel when PIA VPN is connected.
- Scroll through the list and find the app you want to exclude. Tap the green lock icon next to it. The lock should turn red, showing the app is now using your regular connection.
