A widget is a small extension that provides real-time, app-specific functionality from the home screen or lock screen. With Private Internet Access (PIA) added as a widget, you can connect or disconnect using the last server selected.
Step 1: Access the Home Screen
On the home screen, press and hold your finger down until a small plus (+) sign appears in the upper corner of the screen.
Step 2: Open the Widget Menu
Tap the plus (+) sign to open the widget menu. Search for PIA VPN and select it from the list.
Step 3: Choose Your Widget
You have two options for widgets to add to your home screen:
Single Power Button: This option opens the app to connect or disconnect when tapped.
Connection Details: This option includes a power button and displays the current connection protocol, transport type (Automatic, UDP, or TCP), and remote port number.
Step 4: Placement
Once added, the widget appears on your home screen. You can move the widget to any available space based on your preferences.
Step 5: Connection and Verification
The appearance of the widget changes once the VPN connects. When you select Connect, the app launches and automatically connects to the last server used. The app also opens when you disconnect, which allows you to change settings or select a new server location.
