Within the app settings, you find the option for Automation. Switch the toggle to enable the feature.
Enabling Automation
Manage Automation: Once in the Automation menu, toggling the switch displays the Manage Automation option below.
Grant location access: Tap Manage Automation to display a screen requesting that you grant Private Internet Access (PIA) access to location services. This is a necessary step.
Location Permissions
PIA requires location services so your device can differentiate between two networks with the same Service Set Identifier (SSID). You must turn on the device location to use the Trusted Networks feature. Allow the app access to the device location so it can discover local Wi-Fi and mobile networks in your area. Permissions can always be removed.
Setting Network Rules
Once allowed, you see options for how the VPN reacts when connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data.
Select a connection: Tap either option to display the possible rules for that connection.
Add a rule: Tap + Add new rule beneath the available networks to open a window with available Wi-Fi networks in your area.
Configure the network: Once added, tap a network to view the possible rules you can set.
Trusted Networks: The system adds the network to Trusted Networks. You can remove it at any time by tapping and selecting Remove rule.
