In rare cases, you may experience graphics-related issues with the application on Windows, such as distorted text, a loadlibrary error, or an inability to load the graphical user interface (GUI). You can resolve these issues by disabling accelerated graphics. To do this, open the application from the command line using the following command:
start pia-client.exe --safe-mode
Note: This command only affects the Private Internet Access (PIA) application and is not the same as starting Windows in Safe Mode.
Running the Command
The file path used to run this command is critical. Ensure you navigate to the correct directory in your command line interface before executing the command.
If you enter the command successfully, you receive no output, and the PIA application should open shortly. Once the GUI is accessible, navigate to Settings to verify that Disable Accelerated Graphics is selected.
