Private Internet Access (PIA) offers Dedicated IPs for users who require a consistent exit IP address in a specific region.
Unlike shared IP addresses used on standard VPN servers, a dedicated IP is assigned to a single user. This can reduce interruptions such as CAPTCHA and improve access to IP-restricted services.
For purchase and setup instructions, refer to the dedicated IP guide.
How Dedicated IPs Work
Dedicated IPs are provisioned using a token-based system. This system separates account information from the assigned IP address to help maintain user privacy.
The dedicated IP is not shared with other users and remains exclusive to your account while active.
Benefits of a Dedicated IP
- Reduced frequency of CAPTCHA and site verification checks
- More consistent access to IP-restricted networks
- Ability to configure IP-based security rules
Both shared and dedicated IP addresses maintain the same level of VPN encryption and protection.
Dedicated IP FAQ
Can I purchase multiple dedicated IPs?
Only one dedicated IP can be purchased per account at this time. To use multiple dedicated IPs, separate subscriptions are required.
Can I use a dedicated IP on a router?
Dedicated IP functionality is currently supported only within the PIA applications. It cannot be configured directly on a router.
Can a dedicated IP bypass geo-restrictions?
Access to geo-restricted content is not guaranteed and is not the intended purpose of this feature.
Why does my IP location appear incorrect?
IP geolocation is determined by third-party databases. In some cases, these databases may report an incorrect location. If this occurs, you can contact support with the IP address and relevant details.
Can I request a refund for a dedicated IP?
Dedicated IPs follow the same 30-day money-back guarantee as VPN subscriptions. You can request a refund within this period.
What happens if I lose my token?
The token is required to access your dedicated IP. This information is not stored, so it must be kept safe. Store the generated .txt file in a secure location.
What should I do if my token is not working?
Contact support for assistance with token-related issues.
