You can manage app permissions for Private Internet Access (PIA) VPN, including location and notification permissions, in your Android settings.
However, disabling app permissions can affect some VPN features. For example, PIA VPN needs location access to detect nearby Wi-Fi networks and apply VPN automation rules.
How to Manage PIA VPN App Permissions
Follow these steps to change your VPN app permissions:
Location Permissions
To modify PIA’s location permissions:
- Go to your phone’s Settings > Apps.
- Find and select PIA VPN from the list.
- Open Permissions.
- Tap Location. You’ll see options to allow location access all the time, only while using the app, only after prompting, or never. We recommend the default Allow all the time.
- Otherwise, select another option from the list, such as Don’t allow, to limit this permission.
Notification Permissions
To change PIA’s notification permissions:
1. Open your phone’s Settings > Apps.
2. Select PIA VPN from the list.
- Tap Permissions.
- Tap Notifications. Enable Allow notifications if you want VPN connection updates.
- To stop notifications, turn off Allow notifications.
