Whether you can upgrade your Private Internet Access (PIA) subscription term directly depends on the payment method you used at signup.

Eligible Payment Methods
You can upgrade directly if you paid with:
- Credit card
- PayPal
- Amazon
How to Upgrade
- Go to PIA’s Client Control Panel and log into your account if prompted.
- In the Subscription Overview tab, under Upgrade subscription, select the plan you prefer.
- Confirm that you want to upgrade your subscription.
Important: If you upgrade your account in the middle of your existing subscription term, the upgrade payment subtracts a prorated amount based on the unused portion of the previously paid term.
Exception for Older PayPal Accounts
For older PayPal accounts, you must purchase a new account because PayPal upgraded its payment system. Users can also reactivate this account once terminated with a new PayPal transaction.
If You Used a Different Payment Method
If you used any other payment method, there is no option to directly upgrade your subscription. To change your subscription, you can:
- Cancel your current recurring subscription through the platform you originally subscribed with (for example, log into your Google Payments account to cancel a Google Play subscription).
- Continue using your account until the current paid term ends.
- Once the term expires, purchase a new subscription with your preferred payment method and subscription term through one of the following:
