You can upgrade your Private Internet Access (PIA) subscription to an available longer subscription term if your payment method supports it in the Client Control Panel. To downgrade to a shorter term, you must wait until your current paid term ends.

How to Upgrade Your PIA VPN Subscription
If you paid with a credit card, PayPal, or Amazon Pay, or used Google Pay or Apple Pay on the PIA website, and want to switch to a longer subscription term, follow the steps in this guide: Upgrade Your PIA Subscription.
Note: Some older PayPal subscriptions cannot use this upgrade option because of a change to PayPal’s payment system. In that case, to update your subscription, you will have to purchase a new account or reactivate this account once terminated with a new PayPal transaction.
How to Downgrade Your PIA VPN Subscription
You cannot downgrade to a shorter-term subscription in the Client Control Panel. Instead:
- Turn off automatic renewal through the platform where you purchased your subscription.
- Continue using PIA until your current paid term ends.
