If you want to connect using an alternative proxy connection (SOCKS5), the PIA application requires a username and password that you need to generate. These credentials differ from the standard “P” username and password you’re assigned when you purchase your subscription.
To generate SOCKS5 credentials, follow the steps below:
- Log in to your PIA account via the sign-in page.
- Select Downloads.
- Scroll down to VPN Settings > SOCKS and choose Generate.
- The SOCKS5 username and password will appear, with an option to re-generate if needed.
