When you contact customer support about your Private Internet Access (PIA) account, our team needs to verify that the account in question belongs to you. This guide outlines the options available to you.

Verify with Your Email
If you have access to the email you used to set up your Private Internet Access (PIA) account, verification is simple. When you contact support via live chat, support will send an email to the registered email address, and you can reply to verify the account. Similarly, if you contact support via email, your account is considered verified so long as the email address used to send the request matches the account.
Verify with Your Order Number
Providing your order number is another way to verify your account. For all purchases, you’ll receive a confirmation email containing a transaction invoice. Within this invoice, you can find your order number.
Search for the Private Internet Access Payment Received email by entering @privateinternetaccess.com in your inbox. Once located, provide the order number found between the purchase date and the payment method used.
If you can’t locate the email or no longer have access to the email account, you can find the invoice by logging into your account dashboard.
After logging in, select See billing history in the Subscription Overview section. Here you’ll find a page showing all past transactions, including:
- Order number
- Payment date
- Payment method
- Details
- Amount paid
- Invoice download option
To verify your account, provide the order number listed.
Other Ways to Verify
If you can’t access your account email or order number, there are other ways to verify, depending on how and where you purchased your subscription.
Credit Card
If you paid by credit card, you can verify your account by providing support with the last 4 digits of your credit card number plus one of the following:
- Your full name.
- Your bank name.
- Your registered ZIP code.
- Your last payment date or date range.
PayPal
For PayPal purchases, you can verify your account using your PayPal email address and the Transaction ID provided in the PayPal payment confirmation email. To locate the ID, check the top-right corner of the confirmation email from PayPal for a string of letters and numbers.
If you can’t find the email:
- Log in to your PayPal account.
- Select Activity.
- Search for Private Internet Access, Inc.
- Open the transaction and locate the Transaction ID on the right side of the page.
BitPay
For BitPay purchases, you must provide the Invoice ID or Transaction ID. The Invoice ID can be found in your BitPay confirmation email, and the 64-character Transaction ID is available in your crypto wallet’s transaction history.
If you can’t locate it, contact support@bitpay.com for assistance.
Google Play/Android
For Google Play purchases, you need to provide the Transaction ID (also often called the GPA order number) from the Google payment confirmation email. The number starts with “GPA” followed by a series of numbers.
To find it:
- Log in to your Google Payments account: https://payments.google.com/payments/home
- Open payment history and locate the Private Internet Access transaction.
- Open the payment details.
- Locate the Google Transaction ID (GPA.####-####-####-##### or similar).
iOS/Apple
For purchases made via your Apple account, you need to provide the Apple invoice receipt. You can find this receipt by logging into your Apple account and going to your Purchase History. Find the Private Internet Access purchase to view the associated receipt or send it to yourself.
Amazon
For Amazon purchases, you must provide the Transaction ID for the purchase along with your Amazon email address.
To locate the ID:
- Log in to your Amazon account: https://pay.amazon.com/signin
- Open the payment history and find Private Internet Access.
- Open the transaction details.
- Locate the Transaction ID (it typically starts with P01).
PayGarden/Gift Cards
For PayGarden purchases (gift cards such as Macy’s or Walmart) or PIA/third-party gift cards, you must provide the Confirmation Code (example: 1AB-C2D-EF3). This can be found in the purchase confirmation email.
Paymentwall/Qiwi
For Paymentwall/Qiwi purchases, you need to provide the Transaction ID from the confirmation email.
Once you have provided these details to customer support, they will escalate the request to the billing team for verification.
